About me

My professional origins are in the field of management consulting. After 3 years with McKinsey & Co, I co-founded our own consulting practice – GCN Consulting (www.gcn.at) in 1992.

Together with the founder, I developed a consulting practice that specialises in the Financial Services Industry. We participated in a lot of strategic, organisational and operative projects with leading insurance companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. After one and a half decades of constant growth we decided to cut back our energy in the development of GCN as a firm and to push other activities as well.

I broadened my focus into private equity investments. The most relevant investment was, a training and educational company. There I supported the managing team from the take-over in 2005 up to the end of 2014 as managing director responsible for finance. In this time the company expanded its business in terms of revenue from Euro 3,5 to 15 mill.

In parallel – starting in 1997 – I used the proceeds of my business activities to invest systematically in public companies according to value-investing principles. As part of this investing strategy I bought a stake in “Shareholder Value Beteiligungs AG” (SVB in short – the company trades on the Frankfurt stock exchange: SVE.DE). SVB has a dedicated value investing approach. I am currently the major  shareholder and member of the supervisory board of SVB.

After stepping back from my duties at BEST and GCN in the beginning of 2015, my priority is to invest professionally. On the one hand within SVB – where I hold the role as the chairman of the  board – and independently – managing VERUS Capital Partners AG  with own and external funds – on the other hand.
